TURKISH BREED ADVISORY COMMITTEE
A REGISTRATION POLICY FOR TURKISH VANKEDISI CATS  - 13w - effective February 2005

This policy is for the registration of all Turkish Vankedisi cats 13w, 13w bl, 13w od, within the Semi Longhair breed
section of the GCCF.

In this document 'Turkish Vankedisi' shall describe all semi longhaired cats as described below. This policy shall exclude
registration of all cats that are not Turkish Vankedisi.

BREEDS PERMITTED IN THE PEDIGREES OF TURKISH VANKEDISI

A. TURKISH VANKEDISI CATS
The Turkish Vankedisi cat is a naturally occurring semi longhaired breed from the rugged region of the Middle East
centred on lake Van, where the climate varies to extremes.

The breed is known locally as the Van Kedi, the prized cats being pure white with odd eyes, one of amber and the other
blue. Cats with both eyes amber or blue are acceptable. The Turkish Vankedisi and the Turkish Van cat should be
indistinguishable as far as type is concerned, the only difference being the coloured markings on the Turkish Van cat, the
Turkish Vankedisi being white all over.

B. TURKISH VANKEDISI OF UNRECOGNISED COLOURS
No other colours are acceptable.

C. TURKISH VAN CATS
Turkish Vans (breeds 13d, 13d1, 13d2, 13d6, 13d7, 13d8, 13d11, 13d12, 13d16 & 13d18 in all three eye colours, amber,
blue or one of amber and one of blue) are accepted in the pedigrees of Turkish Vankedisi.

2) The mating of Turkish Vankedisi to Turkish Vankedisi is not recommended.

3) Any Van patterned offspring resulting from the mating of two Turkish Vankedisi or from the mating of a Turkish Vankedisi and a Turkish Van cat should be registered as a Turkish Van cat if eligible according to the Registration Policy for that breed, or otherwise shall be placed on the Reference Register as 'of Turkish Type'.

4) Any Turkish Vankedisi that produce colourpointed kittens shall be overstamped "Carries the Siamese gene" and their progeny shall continue to be overstamped "May carry the Siamese gene" until cleared by test matings.
